Covelli is a multi-concept business, with something to eat, drink, and wear. Yes, we really did say something to wear. Located in the basement of Orchard Central, Covelli houses an Italian bistro, wine bar, and women’s apparel store. But here at Chope, we like to focus on the food!
Covelli serves rustic Italian fare for the contemporary palate, with menu items including an assortment of interesting ingredients like capesante e gemberi (prawns & scallops with Avruga caviar over sweet onion confit) and Covelli Speciale (tortellini stuffed with ricotta and spinach served with cream sauce, smoked salmon, and green peppercorns).
As for its wine bar, Covelli offers a varied selection of over 50 wines from Italy, Australia, France, and Spain. With grand seating and a private dining room, Covelli is an ideal location for private functions and corporate dinners.
"Making full use of the eclectic interior space of the shopping mall, Covelli has nestled itself quite comfortably across the 3,000 square feet corner, creating a little retail haven of its own with its bistro, wine bar and fashion boutique concepts." -Asia Tatler Dining
"If wining, dining and shopping are your guilty pleasures, then spoil yourself at Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar at Orchard Central." -Appetite Asia
Covelli isn’t your traditional Italian restaurant. The eclectic ingredients make for appetizing dishes such as the filetto di manzo (beef medium done with pumpkin puree). However, for those in the mood for something simple, we’d suggest the mushroom soup with white truffle, which is uncomplicated, yet flavourful.
For dessert, we enjoyed the sticky date pudding. Covelli offers an unusual approach to this dessert. With a crunchy layer, this pudding isn’t what you’d typically expect in a normal pudding, but combined with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch sauce, it made for an excellent sweet finish to our meal.
