We love that Yumeya is such an unpretentious place that is great for a myriad of occasions, whether it's date night or a family gathering. Being served sake by girls in kimonos, who speak fluent Japanese, makes you feel like you are dining in a small town somewhere in Tokyo. Given it's central location, it's also a convenient stop for busy professionals looking for a quick mid-day lunch or who are looking to unwind after a long day of meetings or crunching numbers.
Foodwise, we suggest starting with the sautéed mixed mushrooms. Served on a hot plate, this dish comes with an array of shitake, enoki and shimeji mushrooms soaked in a buttery white wine sauce. The smell alone will make you want to dive in right away. Their fresh spicy tuna roll is also an excellent addition to every meal. The generous pieces of cut sushi filled with chunky tuna and a tangy spicy mayo goes down perfectly with a glass of their imported sake. (Oct 2011)

"Conveniently situated near Robertson Quay, Yumeya provides a personalised experience in an enchanting setting, feeling like an elegant Japanese teahouse accented with dark wood. The chef and owner, Mr Lee Loon, serves up a spread of Japanese classics, from fresh and well-made makis and nigiris to the more robust flavors of izakaya-style cooking (most of the ingredients are flown in straight from Japan). Dishes are delicately presented, taking a traditional approach that pairs well with the type of food on offer. Monthly specials bring out the best in the season, and the solid sake selection heightens the experience."
