Located on the quiet end of Orchard Road, Singapore's prime street for shopping, Orchard Hotel is home to Orchard Café, where guests can feast on a variety of cuisine from around the world. Although Orchard Café has an a la carte menu, the buffet is the real centerpiece of this restaurant and features a seriously abundant selection of food, as well as an impressive presence of chefs preparing the food right by the buffet stations.
In the mood for seafood? Stop by the sushi station, where a chef assembles platters of fresh sushi, or head to the seafood area, where you can satisfy your craving with crab legs and oysters. Ready to move onto hot entrees? In this category, the buffet offers a variety of European and Asian dishes. But this is no ordinary buffet – with the theme often changing, you might just discover a new dish every time. For instance, during the festive season, the restaurant will serve tender venison and a healthily-cooked cod fish with braised leeks.
Finally, the dessert section goes well above and beyond your ordinary sweets. The selection reflects a variety of cultural influences, with items such as Portuguese-style egg tarts and housemade stollen. (Dec 2011)

With chefs preparing some dishes in front of diners, Orchard Café certainly focuses on preparing quality food. While variety is certainly expected at any buffet, we were surprised to find refined items, like pate, and some more unusual finds, like a ginseng gelatin at the dessert bar. The famous log cakes are made with fresh fruit, such as mango or durian (flavours change from time to time), and are available for purchase separately.
Also, don't forget to save space for Chef Ah Huat's signature pork belly and drunken chicken in rice wine, which is what keeps everyone coming back for more! (Oct 2012)
