From the same dynamic team that brought you the wildly inventive Krish, comes a new concept, Nosh, that sits on the same thoroughly enchanting grounds in Rochester Park. Not wanting to rest on the laurels of their past success, the team at Nosh have reinvented themselves and invite you on a culinary journey, taking you from familiar tastes that you know and love to the edge of new and exciting flavours yet to be discovered.

Just a short walk away from the improved transport links at Buona Vista MRT station, this oft overlooked part of town is going through a renaissance of late and Nosh is definitely one of the new leading lights. Housed in a charming two storey colonial black and white bungalow, Nosh also boasts one of the best al fresco decks in town that they lovingly call the Greenhouse. Perfect for dining under the stars with that special someone or perhaps for a quiet tipple with a couple of friends after a long day at work, you can’t help but fall in love with this unique estate once you’ve been here. We love the exciting new menu here at Nosh which retains some crowd favourites from Krish while introducing a wide variety of new dishes infused with a myriad of creative touches. Start your meal right with the hearty Potato and Cauliflower Soup served with roasted leek, onions and punctuated with crispy Iberico ham. Looking for something a bit lighter? The Seared Scallops with cauliflower puree, candied walnuts, gremolata and Swiss chard might be more your thing. Alternatively, the Mango and Avocado Cod Ceviche will no doubt tickle your taste buds. The Chope Team knew we were off to a good start when we couldn't decide on the appetisers, decided to get more than one per person, then proceeded to devour them all with much lip smacking gusto.

The main courses really wowed us with the Roasted Pork Belly having a certain "melt in your mouth" quality about it. The Braised Lamb Shank with rosemary and thyme potato cake and rocket salad was juicy, flavourful and left us wanting more. What really captured our attention and imagination though, were the creative flavours combined in dishes such as the Sambal Snapper and Tamarind Tenderloin. By taking familiar flavours and combining them in novel ways, Nosh is continuing where Krish left off in pushing the boundaries of the local culinary scene. We can't wait to see what other inspired recipes come out from this kitchen.

Nosh also stands apart from its peers as a fantastic place to dine with vegetarian friends. Almost half the menu is vegetarian or can be tailored to be vegetarian friendly! These aren't just salads though and include more filling options such as Chickpea Cutlet, Purple Potato Gnocchi and Garden Fettucine. Even regular carnivores like us found these dishes to be deeply satisfying and really opened our eyes to what could be done with simple vegetables. There's really something for everyone.

Additionally, Wednesday night is also quiz night! You can often find the Chope Team here unleashing their competitive streak by duking it out with some of the sharpest quiz minds in the land across a wide range of topics. We are constantly amazed at the random knowledge that some of our team members have (or don't have for the matter!). We love that it’s a great place to kick back mid-week with a couple of mates, enjoy some amazing food (they have a separate bar food menu with some tantalising temptations), ice-cold drinks (happy hour lasts till 9pm) and witty banter (guaranteed). Seats fill up fast on this ever popular night so make sure to get your team together (maximum of 8 people) and make your reservations on Chope early! (Aug 2011)
