MELT ~ The World Café presents a delectable international buffet with a show. As the name suggests, there is an extensive spread of food with the best and most delicious representatives from destinations around the world displayed in dishware and pots that remind you of home.
Seeing these familiar crockpots may entice you to take a peek into the kitchen for Mom but MELT ~ The World Café is a cooking theatre. The chefs in this theatre-like setting mesmerise you with their artful preparation of dishes. Take notes or move to one of the many stations for a one-on-one show. The live stations include: pastas/noodles, tandoor, waffles and an outdoor BBQ hut that is only available during dinners on Thursday to Saturday nights.
The lush garden combined with resort-style seating offers an al fresco dining unlike any other in Singapore. If you have children, they will enjoy the buffet and activities specially prepared for them in the Little Fan Land during Sunday brunch.
Of course, you may just glue yourself to the glowing centrepiece of endless fresh seafood. Boston lobsters are the highlight in this sea of mussels, lobster claws, tiger prawns and scallops .
Whether you saved room or simply have a sweet tooth, the dessert section will put a smile on your face. Yes, there is a five-tier chocolate fountain surrounded by fruits, waffles and treats begging you to dip them in. If you can survive the fountain you will notice a chef who will happily create your dream waffle with ice cream. And the desserts continue on with cakes, tarts, shooters and trays of Asian treats including an ice kacang bar.
From sushi to tandoor and pasta to gourmet cheese, MELT ~ The World Café has something to satisfy every palate. (Jul 2012)
"Leave room to sample the vanilla panna cotta topped with raspberry coulis, and the white chocolate mousse and green apple sauce, which both required second helpings." -Time Out Singapore
We love not having to fight over where to eat because MELT ~ The World Café is like everyone eating at their favourite restaurant and being able to order every dish. An endless supply of seafood, pasta, noodles, sushi, tandoor, desserts, BBQ, Asian and Western food create the perfect international buffet.
The red and blue serving pots were a wonderful change from the usual metallic chafing dishes found in most buffets. We loved seeing smaller portions of food and watching chefs keep every dish well-stocked, hot and fresh.
The tandoor section was so good that we dropped the utensils and finished with our hands. The outdoor BBQ hut is a must-visit and we discovered that the mint sauce went well with everything including the Boston lobster at the seafood station. We washed down our food with wonderfully made fruit juice prepared at the dessert section. Oh, and the desserts!
Waffle drizzled with chocolate and a scoop of ice cream was soon followed by a sample of everything. Our table could easily have been confused for a scene at a bar from the number of empty shot glasses we left behind. We really enjoyed how some of the desserts were displayed in glass drawers like a museum exhibit. Grab anything and everything as you can't go wrong here!
We left MELT ~ The World Café more than satisfied with heavy grins and stomachs as we took refuge in the nearby Axis Bar and Lounge for live music and a smooth cocktail. Like a world trip, we could not possibly see and do everything in one visit. We look forward to returning and exploring the world again, especially knowing they also invite guest chefs who bring with them specialities from various parts of the world. (Jul 2012)

"While the ‘melting pot’ trend – the fusing of distinctive cuisines – became overwhelmingly popular in the ’90s, restaurants started to realise this was leading to confusion. Luckily for us, they have taken on more of a ‘salad bowl’ approach here. Each country is represented by separate bowls, some filled with Thai seafood green curry, others overflowing with fish tikka; platters of fresh sashimi are just around the corner from the station, which features a board covered in fine French cheeses. If forced to stick with one section of this buffet for the night, we would skip the trip around the world and dive under the sea. The raw bar is covered in freshly shucked oysters, tender tiger prawns and succulent lobster claws waiting to be cracked. Leave room to sample the vanilla panna cotta topped with raspberry coulis, and the white chocolate mousse and green apple sauce, which both required second helpings."
