Singapore’s first standalone rooftop bar, Loof, continues to be home to patrons looking for a taste of Singapore with a quirky twist. The name Loof is a charming play on local speech and culture, and the theme is evident throughout the newly renovated bar.
Relax in the urban garden that spreads throughout the space with scrubs, tree trunk tables, and a green wall, or lounge at the open patio on edgy wicker seats and the booth style couch that stretches across the far wall. Despite all that’s going on décor wise however, Loof never feels cramped. The team has done an excellent job of designing a space that feels both spacious, as well as comfortably cosy.
A welcome addition in the newly revamped Loof is the novel gift hut, The Mama Shop. This must-visit is a blast from the past, filled with nostalgic toys, treats and trinkets, and vintage comic books displayed with care!
Completing the backdrop are displays of premium bottles, popular beers and favourites from the region. Asian Sensations, a new category added to the mixed drinks menu, adds five new cocktails with Asian-inspired ingredients: calamansi juice, ginger, pear nectar, cucumber, soya sauce, and mint leaves. The Asian influence also shines through in the food selection with Chilli Crab Dip, Wings Lah, Tiger Toast, Japanese BLT, and more!
After all this time, Loof continues to offer the best view of the Raffles Hotel and her surrounding area, and remains one of the hippest and funkiest places to meet old friends and make new ones. (May 2012)
"A must-go on the Singapore night-out circuit, rooftop bar Loof is perched at the top of the Odeon Tower and is reliably packed with expat and local pretty young things come nightfall. It’s the perfect place to get a breath of fresh air and the night view is amazing. Raffles Hotel is just opposite and it’s surrounded by lit-up skyscrapers." -CNN GO
"Fresh air meets potent drinks at the city's largest rooftop bar. Since it opened in 2005, a steady stream of creative and financial types have flocked here after work for delicious cocktails and the hip, outdoorsy vibe." -I-S Magazine
During their renovation, Loof’s menu went to the gym and returned looking more ravishing than ever. The Java Ginger Crush is a stunning cocktail with three different flavours of ginger: canton ginger liqueur and sliced ginger, topped with ginger beer. The ginger never overpowers the rest of the ingredients and is skillfully blended together. Delicious. We also highly recommend the Ho Chi Mint for its fresh taste and the playful cucumber slice.
The food here is not to be missed. More than just bar grub, Loof serves flavorful dishes made with fresh ingredients. Try the Wings Lah for a new twist on a local favourite. Served with sambal chilli and ikan bilis, it was so good we licked them off our fingers. We can easily see the Chilli Crab Dip becoming a cherished snack at Loof. The fried mantou were superb and the bowl left our table absolutely wiped clean.
What we really loved though, was the vibe of Loof. There’s a palpable energy that permeates the bar, and sitting there, amidst the skyscraper, urban gardens, and buzzing crowd of locals, expatriates and tourists, you can’t help but be swept up in that pulse of the city night. (May 2012)

"Odeon Towers’ newly revamped alfresco space bills itself as Singapore’s first standalone rooftop bar, but the draw equally comes from its South-East Asian-driven food and cocktails. Have the Lamb Rack Lollipops ($28) with Sarawak peppercorn sauce and a glass of Penang Padi ($17; vanilla vodka, lime juice, soya sauce, raw brown sugar, fresh chilli) on hand."
